Logistics connects production on one end and consumption on the other, and its position in the market economy has become increasingly prominent in recent years. China has introduced a series of policies and measures to reduce logistics costs, achieving positive results. The level of social logistics costs in China has steadily decreased, while the comprehensive logistics efficiency and service quality have significantly improved, providing strong support for China to build a modern economic system and promote high-quality economic development.
Recently, Li Wenxin, Vice President of China Communications and Transportation Association, stated at the 2024 Global Trade and International Logistics Summit Forum that the key mission of the current logistics development lies in opening up safe, green and value-added new links, creating new scenarios for domestic and international economic and trade exchanges, and jointly building a new ecology of modern circulation and logistics. To this end, he put forward three suggestions: first, accelerate the transformation and upgrading of traditional logistics services; second, study and formulate a supply chain collaboration strategy covering the entire industrial chain; third, attach importance to the greening and sustainable development of logistics. Transform the existing logistics system from the perspective of energy conservation and carbon reduction, establish a modern green logistics system to promote logistics activities, continuously innovate logistics and supply chain services, and accelerate the improvement of logistics and supply chain capabilities.
Xu Zuyuan, former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Transport, noted at the forum that against the backdrop of the rapid development of new-quality productive forces, the paths and measures for building a new ecology of circulation and logistics require in-depth cross-field, cross-industry, cross-departmental and cross-regional cooperation, and shaping a community with a shared future in terms of data sharing, information exchange, technology integration, rule co-construction and benefit sharing. Specifically, continuous efforts can be made in five aspects: strengthening data sharing and information exchange, promoting technological innovation and model innovation, building a collaborative industrial ecology, improving the legal, regulatory and standard system, and cultivating a high-quality talent team to continuously expand the new ecology of circulation and logistics.
Yu Xingyuan, Director of the Transportation and Logistics Division of the Department of Transportation Services under the Ministry of Transport, pointed out that reducing costs, improving quality and increasing efficiency of transportation and logistics is a comprehensive task involving systems and structures, aiming to reduce the overall costs of the industrial chain. "This requires us to strengthen both hardware connectivity and software connectivity, and jointly build an efficient transportation and logistics system with close internal and external connections."
Yu Xingyuan said that China's transportation and logistics industry needs to focus on five key areas: focusing on strengthening the network to accelerate the interconnection, supplementation and upgrading of transportation and logistics infrastructure; focusing on adjusting the structure to promote the optimization of transportation structure and the development of multimodal transport; focusing on promoting integration to advance the integrated development of transportation, logistics and industries; focusing on improving services to drive the innovative development of new formats and models such as smart logistics; focusing on enhancing resilience to accelerate the construction of an international logistics and supply chain system.
Wang Ming, former Director of the Institute of Comprehensive Transportation of the National Development and Reform Commission, stated that China is entering an era of innovative development of supply chain logistics and a golden period for the development of modern logistics industry. The fundamental reasons for this judgment are: first, sufficient market competition requires breaking away from traditional logistics models; second, technology can support the construction of supply chain ecology at low cost with high maturity; third, supply chain practices have laid a foundation for promotion; fourth, enterprises need to innovate operation management and resource allocation, and build new value chains to meet challenges. "In the new period, we need to promote the development of manufacturing, logistics and circulation in accordance with supply chain solutions, forming a 'trinity' modern industrial system of manufacturing, logistics and circulation. This is the fundamental for the solid implementation of high-quality development."
As a supporting activity of the China International Import Expo in the field of transportation and logistics, the forum gathered experts and scholars from the global logistics industry to jointly explore new opportunities for international logistics under new global trade scenarios and offer suggestions for the integrated development and innovative cooperation of the industrial chain and supply chain.
Guests attending the forum said that the holding of this forum not only built a platform for industry elites to showcase innovative achievements and share ideological wisdom, but also added new vitality and strong momentum to promote the application of China's logistics solutions in the global logistics and supply chain field.
